Putting in a request for the record made by The Military Wives whos husbands are serving in Afganistan. It is lovely All funds are going to the SS&AFA( soldiers sailors and airforce association) You can hear it on you tube, perhaps Hammer could put it on so you could listen and if you like it buy it. Only too happy to Annie.
There are a couple of versions up there but I think this is the best one. Hope as many buy it as possible

Re: Military wives

Simply wonderful and very moving, I truly hope it goes to No 1 for Christmas. The brave husbands of the Military Wives must be so proud of them and I hope people "Wherever you are", will add this to their Christmas list.

I missed the program and can't find it on iPlayer, so I'm hoping they repeat it soon....

Barry it was a series televised over a number of weeks so won't be availible on I player now.

ETA For those who didn't see the series, the composer Paul Mealor was commissioned to write the piece (to be performed at the Festival of remembrance) using quotations from the letters sent and received by the military wives...

Thanks for that information, Meg .....it makes the song all that more special and meaningful doesn't it?

It certainly does Mags. . My late husband was a career soldier and I found the whole series ''The Choir: Military Wives'' poignant and very close to home..

Re: Military wives

My first Husband Jimmy was in the 2nd Battalion Coldstream Guards which has disbanded now, but I have always thought about the boys and their mothers, never thinking of the wives, so the programme did me good and I wept buckets, they are as brave as the boys. I also hope it reaches number one and in its turn helps SSAFA .
