Ffose, If they said it in a derogatory way, then yes, I guess it is a form of casual racism, but the Welsh have always been Taffy, the Scottish Jock, the Irish Paddy and the English Limey. We also have shortened names for the French, the Italians, the Germans and so on. I believe these names originated in the Armed Forces.Re: Casual racism

Ffose, I guess they were different times back then. I once had a Labrador that we named Taffy. Simply because we had bought him from a licenced Breeder that lived on the Horseshoe Pass in North Wales and thought it was an appropriate name at the time. (plus it was part of one of his Pedigree Sires Name) The way things are nowadays though, I would be a little nervous about naming a pooch with the name.
