Re: Eggs on toast
This is something I make for a quick lunch at home or when travelling.
Ingredients:
Slice of bread
1 egg
Slice of cheese (NOT processed cheese slices)
Butter
Hot plate on low to medium (see last picture)
Make a hole in the centre of the bread about 40 - 50mm diameter. Eat the bread removed (quells the hunger while you are cooking)
Melt a blob of butter in the bottom of a non stick pan then add the bread to the pan and soak up the butter
Break an egg into the hole in the bread. Tilt the pan to get the white over some of the bread.
Add pepper (and salt if you must)
When the white is half cooked place the slice of cheese on top (real cheese not processed)
When the cheese starts to melt slightly flip the whole thing over. Do not try to move immediately until the cheese has crisped up.
Once it is browned to a nice consistency remove from pan and eat.
With this brand of cheese I think I would use two slices in future as they are cut a bit thin. Slices cut off a block of cheese work but they can separate when being turned over
I never turn my electric stove higher than this during the whole procedure - too hot and you will burn it.
Must be good for you - full of food groups, it was delicious.
