Huge fire on dartmoor

A large fire is currently ablaze near Tavistock on Dartmoor. My first concern when these things happen is with the animals. I hope the ponies have managed to escape.

That's the question isn't it. Either on purpose or a discarded BBQ I would say.

Blimey!
I see it says 'No residents or animals are thought to have been injured' - fingers crossed it remains that way too.

I'm really surprised everything is 'tinder dry' after all the rain now snow, but perhaps it's not been the same weather down there.

That's shocking! I hope it wasn't started deliberately, there are many idiots around who would do that for a bit of fun

Gosh, that looks a big fire.
Like others have said though, I am surprised anything is dry enough to burn, with most places either frozen, under snow or been water logged for weeks.
Don't make sense. My guess is it had a helping hand.

Seems a natural fire, unless they find differently. Good job it's before the nesting season.

Mine too - great and small. It's been a particular bad couple of years everywhere for wildfires.

From reading, it looks like the domestic animals are ok.
