When peeps used to clear the path outside their house ?
Then all the way down , it became quite snow free and safe for people to walk.
Then good old Elf & safety stepped in and said we were not allowed to. God knows why , ?

Because if someone were to slip and injure themselves on where you had swept YOU would be liable to be sued.

It was an urban myth that you could be sued if you cleared your path and someone slipped..

Yes, I remember that .... and for the reasons stated by others above why it was stopped.

You can clear your own path but not out on the pavement...

I reme\mber a jobsworth coming up to me and saying you should not be clearing that snow !

There were three incidents of it happening in the Midlands about the late 90's. I'll try to dig out details. What happened in civil court I have no idea but the potential certainly exists.
