This is why Trusteer Rapport strongly recommend that you download Rapport security software, provided free by the financial security experts at Trusteer.

I use it with my building society and most banks advise you to download it to give an extra layer of protection

How do we know it's not the hackers recommending their fake security?

it's not, Nat West recommend it for their banking as do most of the other financial institutes before you use their online services.
If you're still unsure simply Google the programme and you'll see how many banks/building societies recommend it

I'm contacting Talktalk my provider tomorrow as they have an extra safe one apparently, but, it said to remove the original one using the "remove button", but I can't see one!! Also I have MacCaffee still on here from BT that won't uninstall & it's driving me mad! I'm wondering whether to ditch my Paypal account until this scare is over. That's the only thing I use.

I do get angry about these things. These pain in the butts who can do this to all of us need hanging. Why should we not be able to do these things on line without having these creeps trying to cause us havoc.
Twiz I have heard before that it is really hard to get MacCaffee off of your PC when you want to uninstall it. There is a way if you look online

Uninstall any desired McAfee products using Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel. You must uninstall the program through the Windows Add/Remove Programs service first before you run the MCPR tool, otherwise you may lose access to your software licenses. •Windows Vista, 7, and 8 users: •Close any McAfee programs you are currently using.
•Go to the Start menu, and then click Search, type Programs and Features, and click Go. Windows 8 users, start typing your search while viewing the Start screen. Select Programs and Features from the search results.
•Select McAfee SecurityCenter. You may have to wait a few moments while your computer loads all of the programs installed.
•Click Uninstall and follow any instructions.

•Windows XP users: •Close any McAfee programs you are currently using.
•Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
•Click on Add or Remove Programs.
•Select McAfee SecurityCenter. You may have to wait a few moments while your computer loads all of the programs installed.
•Click Remove and follow any instructions.

Hope my security stands up to it although I don't do on line banking just pay for my Lotto and Bingo online with a bank number.

Re: Two week warning, cyber attack on bank accounts!

I was listening to this on the news last night.

What you have to be careful of now is that we could be inundated with emails from opportunists who will send you emails about paying them so much to clear anything suspicious on your computer.

Thanks for that advice BowieEyes as we have been having the same problem with MacCaffee will try this when I get home tonight.

We do all online banking, think I will leave the computer alone for the next two weeks and just use my phone as they say this will not be affected.

I am so fed up of this type of thing, I had my bank account plundered a few years ago and my confidence has only just returned. At least it had!!

Tried all that Bowie Eyes, still keeps popping up to warn me of things & asking to up-date even though it's "un-installed, will look on-line as you suggested for ways to remove it, thanks x Nat West contacted me and said "Yes" they do recommend Rapport, so thanks Honey x
