Window cleaning ....

We have a window cleaning contractor here, cleans all outside windows. Can only think detergent was used which left a film as the outside of glass, looks awful.
While I'm here - whats the best method you have found for cleaning glass, I use microcloths, which seem to work well ...

A rubber blade, and sponge with a bucket of cold water and a little washing up liquid. A micro cloth with very fine texture to finish off.

Works on all home windows and the hundreds we have to do at work. Next session of window cleaning due Christmas week ! All internal glass my responsibility

That is how I've always done mine. My mother used to swear by white vinegar but it smells and didn't seem to do a better a job so I stuck with the washing up liquid and a rubber blade - I use that on the car as well and the shower screens.

Re: Window cleaning ....

Interesting thread...I beleive I am the world's worst glass cleaner, always streaky...might be clean but that sparkly shine eludes me. Best I have with house windows inside or outside is vinegar and water with a drop or two of dish deterregent and polish the wet glass with newspaper. I even mess up Windex and all other glass cleaners.
I treat my computer monitors and eye glasses like my camera lens....a special bottle of fluid cleaner made for the lens and a soft no lint clothe to dry and polish.

Re: Window cleaning ....

For all internal glass we use Astonish Window Cleaner. We've tried all the others but this was is the best.

For the outside hubby just uses warm water and occasionally adds a dash of Autoglym car shampoo.

Re: Window cleaning ....

So you use it on the screens then - it doesn't actually say that in the write-up ......

Re: Window cleaning ....

We use it on screens and key boards and telephones and mice. Just make sure you have a nice fine grade micro cloth to buff it all up.
