Re: Jo Cox MP critically injured amid shooting reports

I didn't know her, but I certainly know the Batley and Spen area, having lived and worked there for 18 months back in the 1980s.

I have in the past hour written to my MP (Dr Caroline Lucas) and asked her to express my condolences to Jo's family and friends on my behalf.

Re: Jo Cox MP critically injured amid shooting reports

Her husband and children were on the Thames yesterday campaigning to say IN. A senseless act of extreme violence.

It is 10pm and the village is still cordoned off, many socco around looking for evidence in places you wouldn't imagine was necessary, obviously they are doing a very thorough job.
Earlier 2 homocide detectives knocked our door and asked a few questions, they are doing a door to door.

Re: Jo Cox MP critically injured amid shooting reports

I feel really upset this evening as the man who shot her said "put Britain first" I hope to God this is not over the E U vote as she was a supported for staying in.

There has been so much hype and yesterday's charade on the Thames.

Just a psychopath trying to legitimise his actions, I suspect.

It's a sad world when you can't go about your daily business in safety.

The mind boggles.

I just wonder if that sort of cynical generalization extends to those who die in office honestly striving to make the world a better place.
Or does their demise suddenly make people think a bit more rationally ?

Re: Jo Cox MP critically injured amid shooting reports

What a tragedy for her husband left without a wife and children left without a mother. If it is found to be politically motivated let's hope can be prevented from becoming the norm. That is the sort of crimes which is stirred up by the hatred preached by the extreme Right and Left wing groups, whose message is picked up by some oddball and taken too literally.

Re: Jo Cox MP critically injured amid shooting reports

I found it quite moving that the top politicians put aside their differences and want to lay floral tributes together.
