Re: parcel tracking

Realspeed, have I got this right?
You said the delivery was due between 16th July - to 2nd August.

So how can it be considered late, when they have clearly stated that it may be another couple of weeks yet?

Re: parcel tracking

I have to say that the modern postal service is brilliant. I cn track a parcel from local or international postage on a daily basis.

The Australia Post app on my phone even tells me when a parcel is about to be posted, I presume because the firm sending it gets a tracking number as part of their shipping process.

From then on you can track exactly where the package is in the system and its expected arrival date. They even tell you that it has been delivered (?)

The other great thing is that there are companies that won't ship to PO Boxes but it is easy enough on the Aust Post app to redirect an item to my PO Box. Redirecting sometimes adds a day to the delivery times but that is a small price to pay for the convenience.

Re: parcel tracking

If the Destination Distribution Hub is the first place imports end up, then it probably is going to spend a while there. If so, the tracking process has given the stage it's at.

Considering the amount of imports coming from that direction, it must take a while to go through it all. It might be a small package inside the depths of a huge container along with a whole load of other packages.

Some small items from China we've ordered have taken many weeks to arrive. Then we say, "What's happened to...?" and as if by magic, the package arrives shortly after.

Apart from the outside packaging, we reckon the items must be virus free. The contents inside have probably been made and packed weeks or months ago. Longer ago than any estimates of how long the virus can survive on surfaces. The contents still get a wipe over but I'm not sure it's necessary.

Edit: I wonder if there is a fumigation stage now as well?

Re: parcel tracking

what I am waiting for is a" Nikon DK-17C -3.0 Correction Eyepiece Lens Diopter" hope that is the right one, if not will give me a proper idea of whch to get a + or - one.
what on earth is that I hear you ask.
well it is the bit of glass you look through on a camera. That bit of glass, just like spectacles but can be altered to a degree

at the moment I have it on the highest minus setting so if my eyesight gets worse won't be able to manually focus the camera.
the answer is to put in a different lens strength which looks a bit like this (for my camera) the round bit. It just screws in replacing the exising one

Re: parcel tracking

Most likely the delivery agent or courier in the UK doesn't provide a UK tracking service so once it's passed to them it becomes untracked. It's what I've found happening where Deutsche Post (formally Deutsche Bundespost Post) small parcels are delivered by a courier this end.
