Coal Mines Historic Site

Recently my daughter and I visited the World Heritage listed Coal Mines Historic Site at Saltwater River, about 40 minutes from home. This was Tasmania's first operational coal mine, serving as a place of punishment for the worst class of convicts from Port Arthur.

I love looking out from my balcony and seeing what the day brings. I watch the changing seasons (often in one day) and monitor the weather. Sometimes I get to watch the fireworks. Other times life on the street provides distraction and amusement. If I get up early enough, I might see the balloons over East Melbourne. I have counted up to five on the one day. It must be a glorious view of the city.

Springbrook National Park

This weekend I spent Australia Day at Springbrook National Park exploring everything it has to offer and let me tell you, it has a lot to offer. Unfortunately it had one flaw…. the human element.

Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t dislike all people. In fact the majority of people there were great. However it’s that 5% that has to ruin it for everyone. The Natural Bridge section at Springwood National Park is one of the most beautiful locations in South East Queensland. So why do people feel the need to spoil it with rubbish and beer cans? There are signs every 10 metres warning visitors that swimming is prohibited due to the delicate eco-system. So why did some decide it was a good idea to dive in and not only ignore the signs but spoil the experience for everyone?

Annnnyway, rant over. This photo was taken pre-muppet at the Glow Worm Caves at Springbrook National Park. Happy Monday everyone!
