The London Stock Exchange is worth trillions, home to companies from 60 different countries. And that's just the 'Main Market' (the top 1,300). Secondary markets (bonds, gilt-edged securities etc) and the Alternative Investment Market (venture capital etc.) is where the real money is, for London plc.

Corporations have a charities budget just like they have an advertising budget. It's a way of spending pre-tax profit.
