Army veteran charity walk for NHS

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan...herts-52278746

A 99-year-old veteran who challenged himself to walk 100 lengths of his garden has raised more than £4 million for the NHS and the figure is still rising.

Tom Moore, originally set out to raise £1,000 and it is likely that he will reach £5 million later today.

Up to £4.6M now.

I think it is brilliant and it shows how generous the British public can be. What I would like to know though is where exactly the money will end up. I hope it will get to those who really need it, not just lost somewhere inside the NHS.

Btw, Tom's 100th birthday is on the 30th April

Tom’s daughter, Hannah Ingram-Moore, who set up his JustGiving page, tweeted: ‘We are overwhelmed by the response. Thank you — and a huge thank you to our NHS…we are behind you every step.’ You can send a birthday card to ‘Captain Tom Moore C/O Post Office Limited, 67 Bedford Road, MK43 0LA’.

Just seen the total has reached £5 million – what an achievement!

What a wonderful, wonderful man! It’s hard to believe this dear gent is just two weeks off his 100th bithday!

What he is doing and the reason he is doing it is an eyeopener for the ‘louts’ of today. Many lessons can be learnt from this.

A suggestion for his 100th birthday? It has to be an honour with his birthday card from the Queen

Done the pensioners way. A walk done simply to raise money and not for any looked for glory.

I respectfully salute you Sir
