I haven't experienced folks ranting about disabilities much but you do hear a lot about minor aches and pains. Misery loves company as it were.
When I told Mom 2 years ago that I had been diagnosed with MS I told her she's a inspiration to me, seeing how well she's managed living with MS herself. She paused a moment then said "I don't think of myself as having MS really. I just have to do things differently." Me too. And I don't bring it up in conversations. I've adapted my diet to avoid foods that can trigger symptoms but it's easy enough to say simply "I don't drink" or "I don't tolerate eggs" without launching into an explanation.
