Yes, Computers need regular maintenance.
As you point out, if the fluff files are not cleaned out the PC will get ever slower and slower as the storage space gets eaten up.
PrivaZer helps quite a lot.
Also, System Restore is not a perfect solution to all problems but it does give us back the contents of the system registry so that, in many instances you can, very quickly, be back up and running (as you were on the day you made the Restore File)
It was originally called a "snapshot".
Backing up of personal data files, etc., is down to the user.
As Judd has pointed out, creating a full clone ( or system image) of the hard drive is better still. (keep the copy safe & off the PC! - ransomware can jump drives, if connected))
I clone mine, once a month, using easus.
There could still be a month of updates to get back and maybe quite a few emails, but nothing like the other outcomes of a crashed/hacked system.
