I watched the news briefly at 6 and there was suggestion the lorry driver may have been seen slumped over the wheel, suggesting a medical/heart problem.

Yes, and it makes it absolutely more awful for him. A terrible freak accident.

I'm ashamed to say I've been selfish in that I have managed to contact my son who lives and works in Glasgow. What a relief. I can't imagine how the families will be feeling. The phone lines will be utter chaos.

Nothing selfish at all, alice. It's a mother's instinct to want to know her children are safe, whatever age. Glad you found him safe and well.

A friend of the wife and I was in the area when it happened - such an awful tragedy.

What makes it worse I suspect is that it is only a few days away from Christmas.

My prayers go out to their friends and families who will no doubt be grieving tonight.

It was just over a year ago that the Helicopter crashed in Glasgow,awful how life can be so at the mercy of terrible luck.
