Re: The Bells

I do remember when the article came out about charging and am wondering if it was to prevent overcrowding? It seemed always a squash, people struggling to get the best view point. But tbh, as I went to bed to watch catch up telly I've not seen any fireworks! Just looked out the bedroom window briefly, muttered 'oh it's midnight is it? Happy new year then' and went back to bed. That's me doing my anti social bit...

At least ChoCho is safe with us Alice, itīs the strays and dumped pets I feel for, they must be frantic with fear. Now is the time we start hearing about dogs and cats falling into the canals running in panic, unable to get out, or run over dashing across roads panicking. Every year itīs the same and every year there are wonderful people who go out to attempt to rescue them.

Re: The Bells

Just read the Mail online. Yes, it was introduced under consultation with the Mayor and emergency services to control crowds, as the number of people were increasing every year. It is reckoned there were still 100,000 payers this year, but crowd down 80% from 500,000!!! Judging by some photos there was still a huge crowd, so glad I stayed out of it. I don't do crowds.

Oh, and the fireworks cost Ģ1.8mn!

I brought in 'The Bells' cosily tucked up in bed with 'Captain Phillips' a DVD of modern day piracy on the high seas with Tom Hanks in the title role....I fell asleep around 1 o'clock and dreamed that Johnny Depp was chasing Me,or maybe 'twas I chasing Him,;~):~)

Re: The Bells

Quiet as the grave here. No music, no fireworks, no noise - and no bells here in Scotland. If there was any noise, I slept through it.
