Unless it stops raining any time soon, may have to put the heating on on a low peep to get my washing dry.

Since I only have gas-powered central heating and hot water, no, I don't give it any thought.

Why not? Gas heating churns out huge amounts of greenhouse gases.

So would using clothing that provided better insulation not be an option, at least while it's still the Summer?

I mean you gotta do what you gotta do and as we age keeping warm overrides everything but it just seems unfortunate that there now seems to be a mindset that concentrates on turning on heating as the first thing to do.

I guess my sensitivity about protecting the environment makes me a bit biased.

I am not a guy - but I will answer you anyway - The alternatives are too expensive.
