Re: Pain Relief

That's a tricky one Pats CG, depends on what the cause is, might be better to deal with the cause first, then perhaps you won't need the pain relief in the first place? X

Re: Pain Relief

Nothing to be done about the cause, I have these flare-ups often, this time very bad, have taken to me bed yesterday and today ....
I'll have to see what I can find out there .....

Re: Pain Relief

I've never found anything other than prescription drugs that will deal with cluster headaches Pats - and I have looked. If you do hear of anything, let me know.

Hope you feel better soon x

Re: Pain Relief

Have you been seen by a pain specialist? Consider acupuncture? If tens works for you acupuncture may well help.

Re: Pain Relief

Hi Pats , I think it depends on the nature of the pain .
I used to have migraine and pain killers didn't help at all so I used Migril (ergot) which did and enabled me to function.

My husband had a particular kind of pain and tried TENS, a nerve block and acupuncture all of which proved to be ineffective.

One thing I have found helpful for myself and others is relaxation techniques . Because one tends to tense up in presence of pain relaxation can help and this includes warm baths, massage, aromatherapy .

Constant pain is a living hell I hope you manage to get some relief x

Re: Pain Relief

Yes Meg - I have constant pain everyday from various ailments.
This pain is tremendous as its ear related and spreads to the head and jaw, even affects the teeth ! Coupled with this I'm putting up with severe neuralgia in the scalp - So past 2 days have been hell.
Hard to relax, altho' I did take to me bed ....
Acupuncture didn't work for me .....
I will probably have to succumb to prescription ......

Re: Pain Relief

I keep a wheat filled bag in the freezer that I wrap around my neck when I get a headache of any sort cooling the blood to the head seems to really help. Cluster head aches I had for a while last years and nothing even prescription drugs helped it was just a case of hanging on until they stopped naturally.
