Paralympic Cheating

I find myself really saddened about the news of the Spanish basketball team only pretending to be intellectually challenged. What sort of mind does it take to want to take medals and honours that really belong to those who struggle to be able to compete in the 'normal' world?

http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/...123722898.html

It mentioned they had to pay back the training money but nothing about the medals and status being awarded where they should

Re: Paralympic Cheating

I'm not sure saddened really covers how I feel, something very wrong with anyone who does that.

I too was going to say 'saddened' was a very mild word, for how I feel about it.
Having a disabled grandson, I know full well what a struggle daily life can be, without all effort of trying to play a sport.

Re: Paralympic Cheating

My choice of wording was reflecting how I felt when I read the article and wasn't intended to be insulting in any way.

Yes we were celebrating last year when my great niece had her callipers off something they said would never happen, still celebrating she has got into the local school and is managing well (with a little help). Little achievements I can't imagine ever pretending to be disabled just watching her struggle on.

Sorry I didn't mean it was an insult just that it wasn't covering the feeling. It's hard to find the right word IMO so I understand why you used that one.

Re: Paralympic Cheating

What despicable behaviour from all concerned with this cheating fiasco
This includes the person who picked the competitors, the competitors themselves and their families who must also have been party to this deception.
Sickening...

I can't understand the mindset of those who cheat in competition of any kind, what satisfaction can anyone gain knowing they did not win fairly?

Re: Paralympic Cheating

I dont understand cheats at all. I used to love competitive running and the long jump - would never occur to cheat, whats the point in that. If its purely money motivated, they are not sportsmen but conmen.

Re: Paralympic Cheating

I'm disgusted at how low some people will stoop to receive 'glory' by dishonesty

They should be named, shamed and banned from all sports events for ever...
