The USA has farm labour shortages and is at the forefront of automation but it is accepted that it is not suitable for every crop of circumstance

So, nothing to do with Brexit then!

Maybe these fruit/produce farmers need to plan their businesses better.

As you can read in post 67 the UK problem in shortage of east european workers is due to improved economics over there. Thanks to the net contributors in the EU.
Whereas the dutch fly in vietnameze, the british could try their former colonies to fly in labour from?

As proven by 39 dead vietnamese, the polish workers don't come anymore to harvest on UK farms, but other nationalities are happy to come to the UK. It seems you too import vietnamese to replace east europeans.
Two days ago in the harbor of ijmuiden a truck with 16 hidden vietnamese headed for the UK was stopped. An unknown number succeeds.

Our Benefits System needs serious changes if we are to have seasonal working for unemployed British.

This would include still paying Housing Benefit at their main place of Residence.

We rely on cheap labour for our foods, upping the wages will reflect in prices we pay.

Egg and Poultry farms are already highly automated, you still need humans.

You still need humans for the harvest, working day and night when the weather is right.

There is no way you could further automate slaughterhouses, meat packing, milking or yogurt and cheese plants.

You need to have a look at Mueller, Belton Cheese and ABP, incredibly efficient but still needing humans.

Palethorpes is another, they pay very good wages, but the English will not work rotating nights and weekends.
Because they can do better being benefits ,sorry state of affairs . IMO
