Last year's nest was destroyed by the winter weather, but they came back and built another one.
That would be mainly swallows Tess, House Martins tend to be more urban.
But I'm very rural. So Tess could be seeing house martins. They do seem to have a fairly distinctive flight, not unlike swallows. I've had to stop leaving my back door open because twice now I've had two swallows flying in, presumably looking for nesting sites.
It's difficult to see what these are, just as it's getting dark they swoop and dive over the field and bushes nextdoor, I thought they were bats at first.
