There has just been a short flurry of activity, with three or four adults flying around the nest site. One perched where the nest had been, and I wondered if rebuilding was about to begin. But they've gone off again now.

You could be right, Nom. What would the most likely predators be? I've seen some adults flying around this morning, but so far no attempt at rebuilding.

Mags, no chance of survival of the young, I'd say, as not fledged yet.

Magpies and Crows, squirrels are nest robbers as are woodpeckers, but im not sure how many woodpeckers are in Ireland.

Maybe some good news! This morning there were two young perched on my gutter, being fed by several adults. So it could be that they survived and fledged before the nest fell.

I hope they are the same two who mysteriously 'disappeared' Ania, it was upsetting thinking of what may of happened to them...
