No I've noticed that too Dandysmom ... with shop bought onions. Home grown ones seem to still be tear - inducing!

Thanks for agreeing; I was wondering if it was just me.
In the gardening catalogues I've noticed an increasing number of seeds indicated as mild or sweet! I want an onion that tastes like an onion!

I've also noticed the difference with onions and they seem to go soft quicker too. The best ones, for me, are the large Spanish onions.
