Lord Baden-Powell Statue now a target

His statue is being removed to save it from attack.

BLM have accused Baden-Powell of being a Nazi admirer and a racist.

He read Mein Kampf and thought it had some merit .
But then we still drive Volkswagens.
He was actually on the Nazis hit list as at first he was interested in Hitlers Youth but when he realised what Hitler was up to he became very much against him
In fact he became An anti fascist
Had the Germans invaded he would probably have been shot.
They say he starved the zulus in favour of his men in the relief of Mafiking .
But then the Zulus were brutal to those they conquered.
He was a man of his time .
My Dad met him when he ( my Dad) was a young boy at scout camp.

I also admired him Muddy, l was in the cubs and we learnt a bit
him and his views, which were orientated towards making the youth
self sufficient! Something all youth should aim at!
Maybe thats why they are picking on him? LOL!
Im not happy that they removed his statue l think the should have put
a strong force around it and challenged thse wimps to come and get it

Yes. But it wasn't ol' Schicklgruber that started WW2, it was the Brits who raised the stakes on what had been a European conflict.

Actually if the Treaty of Versailles hadn't been such a disgusting stitch up there would almost certainly have not BEEN a WW2 of the sort that there was.

There would have been one, but probably started by an American / Japanese conflict and "done a Topsy" from there.

OMG, new depths of depravity. You're now blaming Britain for starting WWII? What has that to do with the thread?

20th century history not your strong suite then?

In any case it lines up with The Windsor's exceeding close family ties with Germany and Baden Powell's supposed approval of the Nazis (which IMO is very unlikely!).
