The Highway Code

(Please move this to the motoring section if necessary).

*

When did you good people last read the Highway Code?

I confess I haven't read it for donkey's years, so I must be in with the 36% of drivers who they say have not read it since passing their test.

Halford's Atuo Centres found one in five drivers admitted they haven't checked it for over a decade.
They believe drivers would benefit from refreshing their knowledge.

Try this 'How Roadworthy Are You" Quiz and see how you get on.

Re: The Highway Code

Not since I was about 16.
I haven't had an accident and I seem to be observing road signs, my speed and other drivers so I'll assume I'm driving correctly

Maybe so, Mups but I won't bother doing it just yet. If I get stopped for doing something wrong out there I may take a look.

Re: The Highway Code

Question 1 seems to be pre-filled as wrong. I got 10 correct according to the quiz but in reality 11 out of 11 and I haven't read the highway code for many years.

I would estimate 1 driver in 10 knows what they are doing at roundabouts. You can't trust anyone's indicators, that's for sure.

YOU SCORED
11/11
Congratulations! You’re a roadworthiness expert that clearly knows what’s needed to keep your car in top shape and on the right side of the law – are you sure you don’t work at a Halfords Autocentre?
Only after cheating - I got the "merging" one wrong .....

Actually, I read the Highway Code in full 5 years ago after a driving assessment course (which I passed), where I was given a copy free. Since then, I have continued to receive a weekly extract on a relevant topic from DVSA.
