The characters can be copy/pasted too. Windows has a 'Character Map' (with a search function) where most can be found for copying.

I don't know how many are aware that the Character Map is part of Windows but it's handy to know about at least. Many non-keyboard characters are available there for copy/pasting.

Not too technical to use.

It's interesting that the Euro symbol is not a key on my laptop despite only being a few years old. Just as well, we won't need it soon anyway.

My tablet has the € symbol on its keyboard already which is going to be really handy when we stay in the European Union and also adopt the Euro as currency.

...or (if your laptop has a number pad) hold down Alt and enter 0128 on the number pad to get €. I get the £ symbol by Alt 0163

I use Alt 0176 to get ° for the degree symbol

They're the only ones I know off hand but there are others including some fractions, ÷ sign etc
