Re: Scottish Parliament?

The vast majority of "work" is not conducted in "The House" be it in Westminster or Holyrood but in negotiations that take place out of the public eye or when Bills are passing through the Committee stages.

Very seldom is any real business actually conducted in Westminster or Holyrood, mostly it is posturing by MP's or pre-arranged set pieces or just being read as part of process.

Have you forgotten that (a) Its Saturday and therefore POETS Day applies, (b) Its the F.A. Cup final and therefore most of the MPs will be probably be watching it either on a television or their tablet.

Just as aside I spent a few weeks in your part of the world in 1966 at Dounreay as a sorta glorified lab session. Caithness is great, so were the folks, but the fast breeder reactor scared the hell out of me and I wasn't alone in that.

There was a often repeated though unofficial on site saying in order to constantly keep everyone on their toes that the only safe fast breeder was a rabbit.

It wasn't funny. It was the principle reason for building the facility where it was.

Re: Scottish Parliament?

Dounreay is just a wee bit along the coast from me, I pass it several times a week on my way to Strathy Beach. It's a dirty great blot on the lovely landscape here and very few people care for it, although it did give a lot of people work, a whole estate was built on the edge of Thurso to house the people coming here to work for them.
There is a lovely beach beside the reactor called Sandside but I've never set foot on it, don't trust it to be safe from leaks.
