Kindle ebook reader.

One of my kindles has died I think.
I own 2. The first one I got was the 3G version with a keypad. I then later bought a Paperlight. This is the one that seems to have gone legs up.
I went to turn it off by pressing the button and the menus came up with the 3 options. I touched the 'screen off' but nothing happened. It has frozen.
The back light is off and the power setting is displayed with the last page that I was reading in the back ground.
Does anyone have any ideas or answers as what has happened or what I can do?
I have so much unread books on there, that cannot access.

Oh dear - that's a worry
Wish I knew the answer - you could ask Amazon themselves .......

Re: Kindle ebook reader.

Not being at all technical I can only offer this.

My tablet did exactly the same so I went on line and found a possible solution which was to stick a pin in the reset hole and it worked. Although it advised I may lose data everything was fine.

I have never switched it off since and just have it on pause.

There is no reset button on this Kindle. I know I only charged it up a few days ago, but I have now put it on charge again just to see if it has any affect.
It normally tells you when it need charging though.

Re: Kindle ebook reader.

I asked my Son as he has one.
He said hold the on/off button in at least for 30 seconds
Then recharge it. It should go back to normal.
The other option is you have not turned it off properly
and sometimes you can run down the battery until
it is drained. It maintains a short amount of power so
it doesn't do this but sometimes if you have left it on
pause too long it can drain it. Think you then have
to get a new battery.
Try the first one and see if it applies to yours
Good luck.

Thanks for that.
I just went to look at that kindle, and the charging page has come on so it is charging.
I did the 40 second button hold, and the screen went off and then the charges get page came back on again.
If the battery has gone, then I shall have to find out what to do. I cannot find a way into the device.

Re: Kindle ebook reader.

ITS ALIVE. It seems to have gone back to normal. But it could be the battery. I will just have to see.
Thanks for you help guys.
Gumbud. You cannot kill an ebook, as when you buy one it goes into 'cloud' and I can even read them on my iPad that I have been doing when I thought my kindle died.
