Re: Frozen Planet

I've just finished watching Episode 1 on BBC iPlayer and WOW! I am absolutely stunned. In fact, and I'm being honest now, I found the beauty of it so incredible that I had tears rolling down my face.

I was saddened by the polar bear, fighting for his new-found missus and, like Annie, I normally can't watch animals hunting others, like the poor baby bison that was caught by the wolves. This sort of thing reduces me to tears, but this is survival in the cruellest of conditions.

The ice structures and just everything about it was magnificent and whoever did the photography deserves some serious recognition.

I love David Attenborough programmes, and it's about time that he, like his brother, was knighted and should be Sir David Attenborough. For a man of his age he puts himself into serious conditions whether it be in the Arctic or Antarctic, or the dangerous rain forests of Africa. The man is a genius.

I shall watch Episode 2 tomorrow night, or over the weekend.

Re: Frozen Planet

I agree Sir David Attenborugh's stuff is always marvellous. (Pity he wasn't knighted before his brother, but he has been knighted Mollie, in 1985 and then, CVO 1991 and The Order of Merit in 2005).
I never miss his programmes - even when they are repeats and I have collected most of the books that go with his programmes and the DVDs. Unfortunately Frozen Planet is only in two parts. I am hoping somebody gets me the book/DVD for Christmas.

I've been watching it, it's amazing! The scenery is fantastic and David Attenburgh is the perfect commentator.....

Thanks Mary for the reminder, I wrote it on a sticky pad and stuck it in front of me on the screen, if I miss it again I'll eat my hat!.

Re: Frozen Planet

If anyone is interested, the Complete Series of Frozen Planet is being released on DVD and Blu-ray on 8th December.

It can be pre-ordered on Amazon now:
DVD is £21.97
Blu-ray is £25.97

Just in time for Christmas, it would make a lovely present for someone.

Re: Frozen Planet

Thanks Mags, I was wondering if they'd bring out a DVD. Might even buy it for myself?
