Charles Dickens.

Did anyone watch "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" by Dickens?

I have read quite a lot of Dicken's works but I had never heard of this one.

The second part is on this evening. I'm looking forward to the conclusion.

Re: Charles Dickens.

The Mystery of Edwin Drood was Dickens' last novel. He died before he finished it.....however, writer Gwyneth Hughes has completed the tale for the BBC. I wonder if Dickens would have approved of her ending
I am recording the programme.

I doubt if such an astute man would have approved of anything of his that the BBC so heiniously mutilated of recent times.
That is probably an old fashioned view of the classics but some things are best left as they lay.

Re: Charles Dickens.

I must admit that I find any production of Charles Dickens works fascinating. I liked the Great Expectations production that was shown over Christmas.

Re: Charles Dickens.

I have the complete works of Charles Dickens which were my dad's and which we kept in a bookcase many moons ago. The set is approximately 80 years old, but when my gran died, this little book came into my possession. Does anybody know anything about it please? The book is about 4" across by about 7" down and an inscription inside giving the book to somebody for their birthday in 1931.

The wife has just finished watching the 2nd. part, and she said it was good. As this woman is hard to please at the best of times, take this as a positive sign. I was watching the football thank goodness!

An unexpected conclusion but very satisfying.

Re: Charles Dickens.

I've tried to find information on it, but can't find anything I'm afraid.
