The dreaded word - Christmas!

It's getting dark so early now, it's made me half think of . . . . Christmas.
Are you a Christmas Eve shoppper, or do you buy odds and ends throughout the year?
Do you decide on a set amount to spend per person, or just buy what you think they'll like regardless?
Do you like Christmas dinner at home or dining out and let someone else can have all the washing up?

That word should be banned until at least November Mups.

I usually wait until after youngest son's birthday in the middle of November and then start to think about it.

Yes you're right really, shall we withdraw this post until November?
I've seen festive stuff in 2 or 3 shops already, Tesco being one of them, and I think it's all wrong.
Mind you, I suppose another way of looking at it is, some hard up people can't get everything all in one go so perhaps are grateful they can start getting bits together early do you think?

Yes, I work in a small Tesco and we have tins of chocolates with Christmas motives on. I don't think I'd fancy a tin bought now for Christmas. They'll be off by then.

Re: The dreaded word - Christmas!

I do try to buy Xmas prezzies from September onwards as I hate the last minute scramble which I've often had to face. It helps that I have close friends in South Africa and I know that I have to post in good time, so it gets me thinking early.

Yes, I do put a limit on what I spend per person. I tend to shell out more on birthdays, as they are 'special' as opposed to the general 'splurge' of Christmas.
