Check out recent Hacker Scam

Just been reading about a new scam which allows Hackers to take over and run your PC to do criminal things.

Apparently, Antivirus can't see it yet!

(known as "Nodersok", in Microsoft, and "Divergent" in Cisco.)

There is a way to check whether it has been put on your machine:-

1) Go into file Explorer.
2) Click on "This PC" in the LH column.
3) You will now see the search bar -along the top of the page.
4) On the right hand end of this search bar you will see "Search This PC"
5) Type in *.hta
- this is a dos expression for find all files of the type hta.
6) When the search completes you should have none . If you get any files you might want to delete them.
The virus is, apparently" triggered when one of these files is run.
Mine found 4 files suggesting that they were part of MS Money.I deleted them and found that money still runs OK without them.
Apparently there have been a lot of attacks, in the UK.

My source for this was Computer Active Magazine page 11, 23rd Oct version.

In my w10 pc it/s on the bar across the bottom. It looks like a file with a blue clip on it.

Otherwise, right click the start button (bottom left) and you can click file explorer in the list which comes up.

Thanks Ted, but I have still only got W7, so can't find it the same. Not to worry, thanks anyway.

Sorry Mups.

It was called "Windows Explorer" in W7.

I think that the search would have been much the same, but my memory (in my head - not my PC) is not good.
