Re: Should smoking be banned outside?

Whew ... I don't own a car or drive one and I've never been in an aeroplane. Perhaps it'll offset my sins as a smoker

Hi

That is a very fair point Ripple.

Smoking is get less and less by the year.

What I do not understand is the aggression towards those who vape.

Re: Should smoking be banned outside?

Oh dear, yet another smokers bashing thread

I wasn't going to comment as the holier than thou comments from the people who inhabit the lofty heights of the moral high ground don't interest me.

But I wanted to let Morticia know she's not alone and I agree with everything she's said.

Those smokers amongst us with an ounce of integrity don't do it round people who don't want our second hand smoke. We can't be held responsible for the actions of less considerate smokers. We are not thick, we know what we're doing and no amount of insults is going to make us stop. We are aware of the health implications but we still choose to smoke. That is up to us, not anybody else.

I personally don't smoke outside of my own property and I don't even smoke in the garden if next door's kids are about as I am very aware I would be setting a bad example.

As for vapers....I also don't understand why they're getting such a hard time, at least they're trying to stop.

It's not the moral high ground it's common sense.
Smoke and it will kill you earlier than you might think.
It will impair your health .
It is offensive and dangerous to others .
Things change we don't spit in the streets or pubs anymore .
We don't use asbestos to roof our garages .
Time to ditch smoking .
It's time is past .
It's not cool .
It's an addiction
One that controls the smoker hence the need to make excuses for still being addicted .
What smoker would not be better off without it ?

Re: Should smoking be banned outside?

Desperation creeping in?
References to asbestos in garages? But no acknowledgment that car pollution is one of the main dangers to the planet? If you're going to go eco-friendly and 'Green' do it properly.
Ironically .. all are natural products, courtesy of Mother Earth.
Asbestos. Tobacco. Oil.
Perhaps Mother Earth is going to have the last laugh. Mutual destruction. MAD.

Hey ..no! Let's focus on the industrial chimney stacks on smoker's heads. Pitiful.

Smoking is an addiction. It's unhealthy. That's a fact.
So is obesity. Drinking too much. Food additives. Chemicals in household products. Car exhaust.

Lecturing to the mainly converted is pointless if it's just to trash them and call them thick as bricks.
It's like The Witchfinder General Mathew Hopkins rolling up a decade after the fad for witch trials was over.

What a ridiculous argument. Don't get hysterical. Deliberately inflicting harm on others ? That's ridiculous.

There is absolutely no proof that an occasional wiff of tobacco ever harmed anyone. When there is proof positive that anyone died 30 years later, after breathing in a slight aroma of a single incident of tobacco smoke, then you can polish your halo, and preach to the rest of us.

No benefits from smoking ? Why does that matter ? Does society benefit from women wearing perfume ? No ! Of course not. Yet women do it in spite of the fact that perfume gives me, and some others, violent headaches.

.... So to round up - smokers drink, are fat, selfish, inconsiderate, common, thick as bricks, with a question mark re shares in Imperial Tobacco.

You've said Mr Muddy was a heavy smoker.

Presumably your comments describe Mr Muddy too
