First impressions

Peter Sellars is reputed to have answered the question-Why did you take an instant dislike to me? It saves time.


Today Veronica brought a man round ostensibly to help us move a very heavy sofa.

I say hello and shake his hand-he looks. Stephan has made a very good point.

I liked that man.

Bruce, you have to pick it apart phrase by phrase, it's the only way

He starts by telling us that Peter Sellers was once asked "why did you take an instant dislike to me?"
He replied, "It saves time".

That gives you the first clue...

Cut to the next bit which is a story...V brings around chap to help move the sofa.

OG shook his hand. The man looked at him (OG) and said, "Stephan (that's OGs real name, found it in his profile) has made a very good point".

He must've been addressing V otherwise he'd have said "You make a very good point".

What point is that, we wonder!

Maybe the thing about Peter Sellars?

This is where I'm struggling...I think he liked "that man" i.e. Peter Sellars, because he agrees with his comment.

I think OG took an instant dislike to this friend V brought round...

I wonder why?

The -he looks......full stop......is most peculiar.

Wonder what "he looks" ? Strange, Handsome, unlikeable ?

People you have just met using your first name either when directly addressing you or when talking about you to someone in your presence.... that's a bit disconcerting for some reason. Sort of thing sales reps do. Too intimate.
