Whiskey Galore.
I was chatting to Larry the barman at lunchtime in my local and he told me a very strange story, which, by the way he swears is true, and as there are a lot of barmen out of work due to the smoking ban, I believe him. It went something like this.
Two barmen were doing the rounds of Dublin pubs looking for any type of work and at one famous old city centre pub they were offered a weeks work cleaning out a disused part of the large cellar. they jumped at the chance of work and got stuck in on the Monday morning. One of them spotted a large oak barrel partially hidden behind crates of empty spirit bottles. The barrel was labled 'Ten year old Irish whiskey' and the lads decided to tap the barrel and sample the contents. They were having a great time of it and on Thursday when the barrel went dry, they were puzzled and gently shook it, it was still heavy but nothing came out so they decided to remove the lid. When they did, they were horrified to find the jellified body of an old Man.
Larry says he knows the two lads concerned and that there was no investigation into it, all hushed up he reckons.
CHEERS!.
