Priti Patel faces unfair dismissal claim from Philip Rutnam

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-52356574

Ex-Home Office chief Sir Philip Rutnam has lodged an employment tribunal claim for unfair dismissal and whistleblowing against Home Secretary Priti Patel.

A statement from the civil servants union the FDA said Sir Philip formally began legal action on Monday.

Sir Philip resigned in February amid bullying claims against Mrs Patel, which she denies.

A government spokesperson said: "We do not comment on ongoing legal proceedings."

Mrs Patel has not commented publicly on the allegations against her, but government sources have said she denies them.
Is that why she's ducked behind the parapet - to prepare her defence .....

Probably working hard to get the best she can from a traitorous bunch of civil servants who detest having a decent minister on their back making sure the are doing what they should be doing. That disgraceful POS Rutnam should have been sacked on the spot when he first forgot his place, not whinged about constructive dismissal when he was TOLD what to do.

He should have resigned out of embarrassment.

Well, she popped up again but:

Priti Patel ridiculed after announcing ‘shoplifting is down’ compared to year before

https://www.theneweuropean.co.uk/top...fore-1-6624258
25 April 2020

In her second appearance in front of cameras at Downing Street since the coronavirus outbreak hit, the Home Secretary said there had been a fall in overall crime during the outbreak, with “car crime, burglary, shoplifting” lower than the same period last year.

Addressing criminals, she said: “Today I have a message for them. Our world-class law enforcement is also adapting, and they are on to you, and their efforts are paying off.”
Whilst good news is welcome, viewers were somewhat baffled by the declaration that people were stealing from shops less, given most are currently shut.
Patel's not quite as dumb as Trump, but then she is younger and still has time to reach his level .....

Patel to be quizzed by MPs over Home Office response to coronavirus

https://www.expressandstar.com/news/...o-coronavirus/

The Home Secretary will be grilled by MPs about how her department has responded to the coronavirus outbreak.

Members of the Commons Home Affairs Committee will question Priti Patel during a virtual hearing on Wednesday morning.

She will be joined by permanent secretary Matthew Rycroft and second permanent secretary Shona Dunn to be questioned about crime, policing and immigration.

In particular Ms Patel is expected to be asked about NHS visa extensions, difficulties with the EU Settlement Scheme, the measures taken to help victims of domestic and child abuse as well as migrants and asylum seekers during the outbreak and the provision of personal protective equipment (PPE) for police.

It will be only the second time Ms Patel has appeared before the committee since she was appointed Home Secretary in July, and her first since the general election.

Her last appearance before the committee was on October 23.
Given that Ms Patel's persistently delayed her appearance, I doubt that the committee will be well-disposed toward her .....

Re: 'Where is Priti Patel?'

Well, that "hearing" came and went without much coverage and Ms Patel has not been seen since.

The four Great Offices of State are the Prime Minister, Chancellor of the Exchequer, Foreign Secretary and Home Secretary.

Most incumbents of the four have made themselves regularly visible, as expected, during the current time of crisis but not Ms Patel.

Well things continue to get done and she does have a nest of snakes in her ministry and right now the Chinese Pandemic doesn't call for her presence so where's the problem?

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/116156...ied-isolation/

LORRAINE Kelly has lashed out at Home Secretary Priti Patel after thousands of people "died on her watch".

The Good Morning Britain presenter told Ms Patel she had failed to ensure international arrivals were quarantined to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Lorraine said she thought it was "utterly bizarre" there weren't adequate measures in place such as testing or isolation to ensure international visitors didn't bring coronavirus into the UK.

Ms Patel argued travel has been down by 97% and that those arriving are here for trading purposes or returning expats.

Ms Patel said she was doing her best to deal with the crisis and was not easily shaken by criticism.

She said: "Well first of all Lorraine, I'm a politician.

"My main priority is to serve my country and to serve the Prime Minister who’s put me in this role and to do the best job that I possibly can.

"I cannot let that criticism get to me. We’re in a national emergency and all of us, collectively, are doing our utmost to stop the spread of this virus."

She added: "I’m here to serve, to deliver for the British public.”
Empty words from MS Patel .....

Empty words from MS Patel .....
In YOUR opinion. In any case the ministry that Ms Patel runs has a very minor role as far as dealing with COVID-19 is concerned.

Isn't the home office responsible for borders?
