These are fabulous Gasman I am inspired to find the camera haven’t seen it for years .

No idea what a macro lens is and can't understand how I missed this thread.

Gasman.... utterly butterly brilliant photography!

Have you ever gone in for competitions with photography? Or the BBC calendar wildlife one?
If not, you damn well should!

It is the very first time I have seen close ups of Bee's gossamer wings complete with veins.

Thank you Pesta Basically, a macro lens allows the photographer to get closer to a subject to obtain a more defined shot. It takes some getting used to, but can be fun too As for competitions, I entered one a few years ago of the Red Arrows and won. I haven't entered anything since as the level has been upped and I wouldn't stand a chance - but thank you for your lovely comments.

Hiya Gassy and thanks for the macro lens explanation. So it's basically a 'zoom in lens'?

Yes, now you mention it, I remember you telling us about the Red Arrows. Put me out of my misery, didn't you get to see them as the prize?
