For the same reason that those religious zealots of the cause keep their eyes tightly closed to the lies being told, ignore what is presented to them and immediately resort to bullying the opposition - in calling them kooks, nuts and deniers - as their only defense. For the same reason that those in positions of authority and inside information continue to live their lives without any actual concern to the doom they predict of rising ocean waters and still go ahead and buy 10+ Million-dollar ocean front homes in Martha's Vineyard.

For the same reason as those that scream the loudest that the common man needs to do without and change their lifestyle as they fly around on a private jet and have a $30,000 a-year utility bills because of heating their personal swimming pool.

It seems reasonable to suggest that human activity isn't actually contributing positively to climate/environmental stability. As Todger pointed out in a previous post, even lighting a match will have an effect....one only has to reflect on the butterfly effect in chaos theory.

One also only needs to reflect on how quickly air and sea pollution have improved over the last few weeks to recognise just how much human activity affects things.
