The Royal Navy is to receive new offshore patrol vessels in a ground-breaking leasing deal. Shipbuilder Vosper Thornycroft has been selected as preferred bidder for a contract to lease three ships to the Navy and support them in service for five years.
https://www.defense-aerospace.com/ar...ar.-19%29.html

Plans to decommission three vessels worth an eye-watering £12.7million were scrapped at the 11th hour so that the awe-inspiring fleet can police the UK’s coast after March 29 next year.
The ships would boost the maritime defence and increase the number of warships patrolling Britain’s waters should they be needed in the wake of the historic EU referendum result.
However, Rear Admiral Chris Gardner said it was too soon to tell if the ships will be called upon.

Excellent. A great move.

They could also be supported by RN vessels unless they are needed for some activities elsewhere.

Probably coincidental, but interesting that the RAF are taking delivery of new maritime patrol aircraft right now:

Barmier and the EU make threats: we respond!

Thanks for the info Solly, sounds like the three ships they speak of
are over and above the ones l spoke of which are of the river class
which will number six boats and one helicopter, plus over 20:smaller
craft as stand byes to be used as needed?
No doubt the RN will be available when required as well?
So with Macron occupied in the Aegean the froggies will be pretty
stretched??
