It seems you have a lot of useless 50p coins? Use them, they carry a text that is in accordance with european grammar, but not with british. The famous comma.

The envy is in your typing!
Of course, your country will first have to lobby to have a referendum to regain the right to have referendums again before your people can have a referendum to leave the EU. Dear me!

We don't need referenda to make the government listen to the wishes of citizens. The Netherlands is a country of accept and adapt. Yes-or-no outcomes are not very welcome among administrators. That does not fit in well with our polder culture of adding water to wine. To rule is to compromise in dutch politics.

So how do your people have their say on whether they wish to remain or leave the EU when your government has as good as outlawed Referendums? Do you have an alternative process where the people's voice can be heard?
or has it come down to impending mass protests if they want change?

Simple. We have elections every 4 years. But better still, our civil servants, hard working officials who remain for decades on their posts, make for that stable course of our government.

A total of 7,646,415 votes were cast, bringing the turnout to 63.3%. 61.5% of the voters were against accepting the constitutional treaty. The treatment of the approval law for the treaty was subsequently withdrawn by the Lower House, which had already indicated in advance that it would respect the result of the referendum, subject to conditions. The treaty, which was also rejected in France during a referendum, was eventually replaced by the Lisbon Treaty.
