Debit Card or Cash

Which do you use most often and how to do budget with it?

I'm like royalty - I don't soil my hands with either.

Re: Debit Card or Cash

I use a credit card for anything over a fiver and pay it off in full each month, so no interest payable.

Re: Debit Card or Cash

Small amounts under £5 I usually pay cash.
Up to £75 I use my debit card.
Larger amounts I pay with a credit card and pay it off in full each month.
I keep tally of what I am spending in cash and on my debit card by knocking the amounts off a running total I keep and I round the amounts spent up so there is actually more there than it shows.
I bank on line and each month end I ratify my running tally via my bank balance.
I also pay large amounts to folks and companies I know by transferring money on line to them and this includes paying my credit card off each month. I only use one credit card for all credit purchases so it's very easy to keep track.

Re: Debit Card or Cash

I'm a bit old fashioned in that I assume everyone's on the fiddle and prefers cash.

Cash for the cleaning lady, anyone doing jobs like plumber, decorator, window cleaner, car mechanic ...

Sometimes I've got cash needs laundering, so I throw wads at the car salesman ...

I've got plastic too
