Classical Music

This article has a dire warning.

https://www.isc.co.uk/media-enquirie...sic-education/

If this country does not heed the warnings of such senior figures as James Williams from the Royal Philharmonic, we will not have any musicians to play in orchestras in the not too distant future.

Re: Classical Music

Nothing surprises me any more Cinders. As a nation we have stopped investing in anything whether it's music, sport or literature. Any country that spends so much time stressing over whether pupils should be called boys & girls or not will eventually get left behind in all subjects.

Re: Classical Music

Well having struggled to find the money for some instruments over the years unless schools provide them yes they will die out. One of mine can play the piano he learned from a friends mum but we have never had room for or money for a piano so he never progressed as far as he might have.

I have to admit I put more effort into making sure they can read and write and add than play an instrument.

Big changes are likely for it's survival.

The Ukulele is becoming popular again and could replace the recorder as first instrument of choice for schoolchildren.

All recorders should be collected up and used as kindling on bonfire night - they are the most unmusical instrument ever invented!
