(The name is PrivaZer)

I think cleaners make the computer run a bit better and they do free up disk space. However, cleaners can overdo it sometimes and take out something they didn't ought to.

I don't think that's too much of a risk with today's cleaners but it is something to be aware of. Some tech people say not to let cleaners clean the Registry for this reason.

Cleaning may or may not improve performance by removing the dross that builds up in computers after a while. I like to know the computer is free of it whether it does or doesn't improve it.

I always let PrivaZer do its own thing, Registry included, and it has never caused any trouble but we all do anything to our computers at our own risk.

Me too!

The reviewer, through this posting, seems to forget that the version he is reviewing was a "Free Download" version.

We shouldn't forget that there is no such thing as a free meal!

Avast now are the owners of Ccleaner.

In my opinion, the owners of free download apps can & will use the info garnered from the users, in order to build and develop the product - and, they hope, will be persuaded to buy the full version.

He doesn't seem to advise us that buyers of the full version do have the ability to untick certain features.

The reviewer lables "active monitoring" as something suspicious & dangerous.

But he doesn't mention that nearly all app writers do the same thing! The world of "Free Downloads" is the test bed for many products.

Can't control downloads? Can he control them on Windows, etc.?

Was attacked by Malware? Was this the only one or did may others, including MS products, get caught in the last few years?

His alternative?

Yes, he says "RTFM" (Use the Windows help).!!!

I've been using Ccleaner for quite a while & will continue to do so.

Wonder what the real motive of the reviewer was!

His final words are "Affiliate Disclosure. By buying the products we recommend, you help keep this site alive".

So what are the products he recommends?

Yes, Windows 10.

Privazer is excellent.

I have been using the donors version for quite a while (I think I donated a fiver - which got me the full version)

Slightly more difficult to set up the tick boxes (than Ccleaner) and takes a bit longer to run.

But will do the job even if you don't change the original ticks.

Safe enough for me, Summer.

Ccleaner did get hacked a few years ago, but so did many others.

It's a free cleaner and it's job is to get rid of the dross left behind by updates, etc.

Works fine for me!

When did PrivaZer get hacked?

I've use the product for several years but I must have missed that.

Apologies.

Typo.

I should have written "Ccleaner got hacked"
