Some foreign visitors may be exempted from coronavirus quarantine rule

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-52713081
The transport secretary has said people arriving in the UK from countries with low coronavirus infection rates could be exempt from new quarantine rules.

The government plans to ask most visitors to isolate for 14-days.

Initially, the quarantine - which is expected to come into effect in early June - will be "a blanket solution", Grant Shapps said.

However, countries with a low infection rate could be exempted from the rules in the future, he said.

Mr Shapps promised the final details of the quarantine plans would be "released soon" and said there were "active discussions" on the policy. Ministers have indicated that Ireland will be exempt.
A shambolic government moves the goalposts again .....

So that's first the French and now the Irish who must be immune to carrying the coronavirus!

That might be moving 'the goalposts again', however it's more likely to be a lot of something to do with round spherical objects, the larger versions of which are used in the game of football!

I think the government have made a huge mistake with the lockdown and are trying to think of ways to extricate themselves from the brown stuff without anyone noticing...

Now they're saying we'll agree a like for like border deal with France & Spain.

I must have missed the bit where they mentioned that France & Spain are still in the EU and that travellers from all over the EU will come through our portals!

Plus a lot from elsewhere

Re: Some foreign visitors may be exempted from coronavirus quarantine rule

It looks as though the rules over Quarantine are being written on the back of a fag packet. It was only on the news last night that after announcing we would not be allowed to take foreign holiday this year, (sensible) But hey! what's this? we may perhaps be permitted to take a European Holiday after all, according to a reliable government source.

What on earth is going on in the corridors of power in both of our and other European states?? It seems economic reasons are rearing their ugly heads rather than the paramount safety of all citizens. Now this ridiculous farce with quarantine exclusions. It really is a joke!
