Smacking children

Was considered quite normal years ago ,then something happened & it was considered cruelty.
Don"t know what happened?
Not talking of beating just a slap at the back of the knee"s

All started wsith the hippy/ flower power generation "make love not war" now they have grown up with kids of their own and don't believe in anything but a good telling off. Punishment today is sending to their room or stopping paying outside.

I did smack my children when they were naughty but I wished I had not .

I didn't smack my daughter when she was young. My raised voice was enough.

However, when she was about 17 or 18 we had this almighty row and she really got on my wick. We were in the kitchen and I had one of those plastic spatula type things in my hand.
In the heat of the moment I slapped her shoulder with it.

The same year that smacking stopped coincided with a swift rise in knife crime, kids having zero respect for adults, and we lost a lot of good teachers, who could no longer control some of their pupils. There's a good reason why you don't become an adult until 21......

I used to chase my kids when they were young with my riding crop. They got the message, just like the horses.

Same here Muddy ....but it was a different time. I would hate it if anyone smacked my Grandkids.
