Oh Art, your'e so cruel! I haven't got a new motor, just an old 2005 Clio. I'm just off to bed, hopefully to stop crying eventually!!

Speaking to a Lancastrian, I might say "Ayup, cocker";

Speaking to a Yorkshireman, I might say "Ayup, ow's tha gooin?";

Speaking to a Midlander, I might say "Ayup, me duck";

Speaking to a Bristolian, I might say "Alright, my luvver?"

Re: How Do You Greet The Caller On Your Phone?

I’ve got call display . If it’s a number I recognize it’s a #1
If it’s a number I don’t recognize I usually don’t answer and if I do it’s a #9

Re: How Do You Greet The Caller On Your Phone?

Depends on who's calling. If their name comes up on display, I tend to say Hi Mike (or whatever their name is). This always throws them

If not, then it's usually "hello", followed by "no you're not" if it's a cold caller claiming to be from a company. This tends to throw them too

Hi

You have phoned a Restricted Number.

This call will be Recorded and Traced.

Just my sense of humour, but it works.

I say, "Hello, this is Surfermom. May I help you? And what are you wearing, by the way?

Most of that is true .

Re: How Do You Greet The Caller On Your Phone?

Depends who it is.
If it's someone I don't know personally it's "Hello". If it's a family member I say "Hi". If it's one of my mates I usually say "Now then" or "Alright?".

I say "Hello", in a confrontational manner.

You have to adopt the position, no one really wants to talk.
