Why don't you keep checking their website, - daily, or else certainly weekly?
If it is a big company, people probably hand their notice in frequently, so surely it's worth keeping tabs on the situation, else you could easily miss a vacancy.

Another thought - have you got a fork lift licence?
Round here there are often fork lift drivers wanted, and wondered if that would be worth exploring?

I'm checking the site daily, Mups. It still doesn't make any difference. Just about all the work at the company is shift-related, apart from permanent office-based staff. I don't particularly want to work in an office all day long.

I do drive fork lift trucks but only occasionally. Not something I'd like to do all the time.

I'm leaving this thread alone for a while because I'm trying not to think about this issue right now until my hernia problem is sorted as it depresses me to be honest. I've got enough to worry about.
