You know I've thought hard and long about this. Why should a hip wear out? I think it is more than likely a prolonged bad diet is the cause of it. Did you know that when a diet is low in calcium the body attacks itself and the hip joint is one area where the attack occurs - and by 'attack' I mean the body eats it's own bones? Maybe Pat can verify this, or maybe not, but the pain in my hip disappeared after 2 years of intense pain the very first day I took calcium tablets. When I analyzed my strict diet calcium was nonexistent. Not had any pain since - no that is incorrect as I will get it if I don't take calcium.
When you consider I used to run 80 miles a week and probably on average at least 40 miles a week for over 30 years how come my hips are ok and others ain't?
I can answer some of your questions MKJ but not on this thread.
All the best to your wife stevmk2 for her forthcoming surgery and recovery.
As it seemed a bit pointless going all the way into work this morning to come back at about 10:30 I'm sitting here waiting until it's time to take my wife over to the hospital.
That's @ 11:15.
Time's dragging and she's nervous about it all now.
Just had a 'phone call from the hospital - they have a bed for my wife so that worry is gone now.
I'll be able to drop her off and go into work no problem now won't I - er - no, I'll be worried sick! stevmk2
Steve matey, been there, done that three times over - honestly its a doddle and if your OH, like me, has an epidural instead of full anaesthetic then she'll be sat up in bed eating her evening meal - just one little tip - make that meal a light one as the effects of the Epidural (morphine) can make one feel slightly nauseous.
