TV Channels

Here in North America there's a joke about having 100 channels & nothing's on. Is it like that in the UK?

We cancelled our satellite service a few years ago as we hardly watched TV anyway. Don't miss it at all.

We have box sets of favourite old sitcoms & shows like Matlock, Starsky & Hutch, etc that we'll stick in the DVD machine when we want.

No more commercials either. As far as I'm concerned there's been so much tasteless junk on TV for a couple of decades now!

Re: TV Channels

We get over 100 channels as well Autumn. I find I only watch the same channels all the time. You get some like Universal, Alibi, Fox, 5 USA that have some good series on them and we also have the BBC and ITV channels too. So overall out of the very many channels I have I generally stick to about 15 that I like best. Cant take the rest off otherwise the package would take some of the ones I like off with it.

Re: TV Channels

We gave up sky so lost a couple of channels we used to watch but freesat isn't bad we find various we can record during the day to watch when we have time at weekends. Couldn't give TV up entirely or we would miss gems like the canals programme with timothy west and prunella scales or country file and gardeners world, and my favourite Big Brother

Love the American sitcoms before the 90s, so we have a stock of those.
Mary Tyler Moore Show was class and 'Cheers' another favourite

Loved Mary Tyler Moore too but Lucille Ball was best, no one has ever been so funny

Re: TV Channels

We very rarely find anything worth watching and are tempted to have a dish so we can have Freesat to give us a bit more choice......

Re: TV Channels

I haven't a clue how many channels I get, I have free view on this TV but don't use any only CBeebies for little Hannah .

I stick to the main 4 standard channels.

Re: TV Channels

I would get rid of Sky if it wasn't for Sky 1. I'd miss Stella, Trollied etc.
But as long as Everybody Loves Raymond is on one of the Channels I'd probably manage.
