2015/6 Celebrity Losses

As we reflect on the loss this week of comedienne Caroline Aherne I am mindful that both 2015 and 2016 (thus far) have been awful years of attrition for famous celebrities.

Here are just a few:

2015

In the world of comedy we lost:

George Cole (Arthur Daley)
Stephen Lewis (Blakey in On The Buses)
Warren Mitchell (Alf Garnett)

We lost novelists:

Jackie Collins
Ruth Rendell
Sir Terry Prachett

and actors:

Patrick McNee (Steed)
Omar Sharif
Sir Christopher Lee
Leonard Nimoy (Spock)

In the music/entertainment world we lost:

Ben E King
Errol Brown (Hot Chocolate)
Val Doonican
Lemmy (Motorhead)
Cilla Black


2016

So far we have lost some very big names inc:

David Bowie
Prince
Muhammed Ali

Also in the music world we have lost:

Billy Paul (of 'Me and Mrs Jones' fame)
Maurice White (Earth, Wind & Fire)
Glen Frey (Eagles)
Sir George Martin

We lost actors:

George Kennedy (Cool Hand Luke, Naked Gun)
Alan Rickman

and we have also lost:

Paul Daniels
Terry Wogan
Ronnie Corbett
Caroline Aherne

It's those pesky Numbers as usual.

To lose one celebrity may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose several looks like carelessness.

It's just as fickle for all those that are unknown by the masses.

Mrs Carwood, me ex next door neighbour fostered over 25 disabled kids, took them on lovely holidays and gave them a secure loving home.

Not many people knew that.

Unsung but someone who should be remembered as adding to the quality of life for many youngsters.
